40 chioschi a Milano
29 CHFThe kiosk, the city’s smallest “building,” has long played an outsized role in urban life – a porous space where inside and outside, private and public, naturally blend. Positioned at key points in the urban fabric, kiosks invite pause, interaction, and community.
Across Italy, however, newspaper kiosks have been disappearing for over two decades, leaving behind not only commercial gaps but social and cultural voids. Their decline thins the circulation of information and erodes neighborhood life.
In recent years, new incentives and local initiatives have sparked a wave of revitalization, reimagining kiosks as active urban sites once again. This publication documents these transformations, offering a contemporary look at the kiosk as a living resource for cities today and tomorrow.
